Sketches
There is nothing I enjoy more than finding time to go out and sketch. When we immerse ourselves in the process of drawing, we see so much more - we see the difference in light and shadow; we see the shapes of objects and the spaces they create around them (negative shapes); we see the infinate range of textures around us and find inventive ways of describing them by making different marks on the paper.
Below is a selection of drawings I have completed more recently. Though some of them have been used as the basis of a painting, monotone line drawings don't necessarily translate back into colour, so many of them remain as they are - contemplative studies of our wonderful landscape created for pure joy.
