Hazel is a painter and printmaker working in the Peak District, Derbyshire. For three years she ran "Saffron Studio", a small painting and printmaking studio, where she sold her work and gave tuition in a variety of mediums. The studio gave Hazel her greatest public "window" to date, with sometimes hundreds of people viewing her work each week. However the constraints of opening hours did not lend themselves to a landscape painter, sometimes leading to a feeling of restriction - especially on a beautiful day! Having taken the decision to close the shop, Hazel currently works from her studio at home, which gives greater freedom for working in an ad-hoc manner. Now when the sun shines, she can dash outside with paints and easel "without having to worry about manning a shop!"
Having various on-going tasks and private commissions to fulfil, the time has flown since February. Plans to create a new body of work have been put on hold, so that Hazel can get up to date. However, she has been collecting ideas together recently, and with the increase in available time has been able to plan a new series of views, which will hopefully appear here soon. Most of the current work which is available, is pictured here to here buy on-line. Please allow up to 7 days for delivery.
An exhibition of Hazel's work "Glimpses of the Peak District" went on view in Derby Cathedral Centre, in the Sir Richard Morris Lounge, last March. This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase work to a wider audience, reaching those a little further afield. Following the success of this exhibition Hazel is now musing on the possibility of a new exhibition. Details will follow... in time...
